Join a successful automotive business as our Motor Trade Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Motor Trade Accountant to join our team and play a key role in supporting the financial performance of the business.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant who understands the automotive retail environment and enjoys working in a fast-paced, commercially focused dealership or motor group.

The role

You will take responsibility for the day-to-day financial management and reporting of the business, providing accurate and timely information to support commercial decision-making.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing dealership accounts and financial reporting
• Preparing monthly management accounts
• Monitoring budgets, forecasts and cash flow
• Managing purchase and sales ledgers
• Balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls
• VAT returns and statutory compliance
• Supporting year-end accounts and audit requirements
• Monitoring departmental profitability and KPIs
• Working closely with senior management, sales and aftersales teams
• Providing financial insight and challenging performance where appropriate
• Ensuring strong financial controls and processes across the business

About you

We're looking for someone who has:

• Previous motor trade accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of dealership finance and accounting processes
• Excellent attention to detail and numerical ability
• Commercial awareness and a hands-on approach
• Strong Excel and accounting-system skills
• The confidence to work with senior managers and operational teams
• The ability to work independently while being an effective team player

ACA, ACCA, CIMA or AAT qualification is desirable, although relevant motor trade experience and technical ability are equally important.
