Thames Motor Group, a family-run business with its head office in Kent, was established in 1971 by Vipen Khanna. Vipen has been in business for many years, and has diligently built a portfolio of diverse enterprises, including motor dealerships, property development and fuel retail.
Sanjay Sobte, Vipen’s nephew, runs the two dealerships in Thames Motor Group (Slough) Limited and is proud to be the Dealer Principal of one of the top-selling dealerships for both Fiat and Abarth since 2000. Having started as a salesman for Thames Motor Group in 1986, Sanjay then progressed to a Sales Manager and then to Dealer Principal before he was finally promoted to the Managing Director of Thames Slough. In addition, he also heads up the sales team in Tunbridge Wells.
Thames Slough’s continued success has led to us introducing further franchises, including Alfa Romeo in early 2013, then Jeep in June 2016. We are proud owners of the newly built Jeep and Alfa dealership next to our original Fiat/Abarth site on Bath Road. This prestigious dealership is Europe’s largest Jeep and Alfa showroom holding over 50 cars over 2 floors. It certainly creates a wow factor!
In 2001, Kevin Khanna, Vipen’s son, was appointed Dealer Principal of Thames Motor Group (Tunbridge Wells) Limited and became the youngest Dealer Principal in the UK. Kevin’s strong business acumen and passion for the motor trade has made Thames Motor Group one of the most customer-focused franchise dealers in the region.
In 2015 Kevin moved over to the property side of the business and Natasha Khanna, Vipen’s Daughter, became the Dealer Principal at Tunbridge Wells. Natasha ran the company’s car rental location for 13 years and also has nearly 20 years’ experience in HR for the group. She brings to Tunbridge Wells her wealth of knowledge in people management and customer focus.
Thames Motor Group’s teams in both dealerships in Slough (Berkshire) and Tunbridge Wells (Kent) are hugely enthusiastic and knowledgeable about all the innovative marques Thames Motor Group represents.
