Sporting some serious road presence, the newly unveiled Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Red Vapor Limited Edition looks set to make a big impact in the sports performance sub-SUV segment. First shown at the 2014 Paris Motor Show last October, this 4WD's rugged frame is smoothed out by sleek, sporty contours, while an immense V8 powertrain ensures it can back up its high-performance image.
Available in the UK from the end of January, the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Red Vapor takes things on in a number of ways from Jeep's standard SRT model. Various styling cues help to make this limited edition stand out from the crowd, including exclusive 20" five-spoke Goliath wheels, which come with a black chrome finish and shining centre caps. Gloss black grille surrounds, along with the chrome detailing, accentuate the bold and aggressive feel. An exclusive Redline colour scheme, along with Bright White and Brilliant Black options, will ensure the Red Vapor turns heads wherever it goes. Additional premium sports styling cues include body-coloured door handles, sill extensions and wheel flare extensions, as well as black roof moulding. This Jeep's exclusive feel continues inside the cabin thanks to numerous premium touches, including a leather-wrapped steering wheel, red detail stitching, suede upholstery inserts and chrome pedals.
While sporty and refined styling is central to the new Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Red Vapor, innovative technology also plays a significant part. An Active Noise Cancellation system helps ensure a premium driving experience, and it's easy to stay connected thanks to the 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen display. As well as 3D navigation, this unit offers advanced voice recognition and Bluetooth audio streaming. Along with the Harman-Kardon audio system complete with 19 speakers and three sub-woofers, the Red Vapor comes with a power tailgate, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring and cross-path detection fitted as standard.
With a 6.4-litre V8 engine under the bonnet and an eight-speed automatic gearbox plus paddle controls, the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Red Vapor is one of the fastest performance SUVs on the market. Capable of producing 461bhp, the model will reach a top speed of 160mph and accelerate from 0-62mph in five seconds.
