Alfa Romeo Air Conditioning Service

How does my Alfa Romeo's air conditioning work?

Your Alfa Romeo's climate control/air conditioning is powered by compressed refrigerant gas which is circulated around the system so that it can cool air before it reaches you, in the cabin. It's just as important in the winter, where it removes condensation that builds up on the windscreen and can sometimes break down unexpectedly, leaving you with visibility problems.

What can go wrong with my air conditioning?

If you've not used your air conditioning for a while, bacteria and fungi can start growing, accelerated by a combination of engine warmth and condensation. This can lead to health issues like allergies, colds and sore throats. 10% of the gas can be lost every year and the loss of pressure can result in the system working overtime, increasing fuel consumption.

To keep the air conditioning in your Alfa Romeo operating at the best possible level, we suggest that it undergoes a service every two years. This ensures the right temperature can always be maintained and can reduce any expensive repair costs at a later date.

Highly skilled, manufacturer approved technicians will carry out the following in an air conditioning service:

  • Replacing the refrigerant gas in the air conditioning system
  • Checking seals and joints for leaks
  • Replacing the oil to ensure the system doesn’t become hard and allow the gas to escape
  • Check effective operation of the cooling fan
